A letter from Jack Healey
to Congress Human Rights Mission Co-chairs Wolf and McGovern‏

Mr. Wolf and Mr McGovern,

Warm regards to you both. Thanks for your good work on this Committee as well. My name is Jack Healey. You may remember me from my days at Amnesty International. Yesterday on Huffington Post, I placed a blog on the condition of former President Chen of Taiwan in jail. Simply puit, he is dieing of medical neglect in his very small cell. His offenses were non violent. He is paying the price for such. Even President Fujimore of Peru who is in jail for violent human rights abuses is treated better. I hope you will look into this matter as soon as you can. Chen favored independence from China. The present government does not and the American position is proably the same, but this request of mine is not politics , it is simply giving Chen a right to decent and good medical care. Most likely Chen will die from his illnesses in time. But that time is important to any one, any prisoner, any human. Hope you will help Mr Chen. After all, Chen was a USA ally for the 8 years he was President of Taiwan. Surely , htis means something now when he is in dire straits. Thank you for any consideration you give this request.

Jack Healey
