On November 7, 2012, the Honorable Tom Tancredo, former Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and Presidential Candidate and his former Chief of Staff Mac Zimmerman were met by FAPA Sacramento Chapter member Joseph Lin, Ph.D., at San Francisco International Airport. Congressman Tancredo is on his way to Taiwan to visit with former President Chen Shui-Bian (CSB) who is undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Taipei Veteran’s General Hospital. "The U.S. attaches great importance to the human rights of Taiwan's people, and we hope the Ma Administration will respect human rights by granting President Chen's request for medical parole."
"My goal is not to interfere with Taiwanese politics. Rather, it is to visit an old friend. And I appreciate the Taiwanese government's willingness to accommodate me." |
